January 25, 2022
A monumental court case which is a huge admonition for the media has seen American rapper Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar better known as Cardi B win her defamation lawsuit against popular blogger and YouTuber Latasha Kebe who is known online as Tasha K.
The fee awarded Cardi B who was on a visit in Nigeria in the year 2020 in damages is $1.25 million and it might be a lot more after today’s (Tuesday, 25 January 2022) proceedings.
Tuesday’s session is set to determine whether the offender will also pay more damages or need to pay for Cardi B’s legal expenses.
Yesterday’s verdict concluded a federal trial during which Cardi B which has adopted the Nigerian name ‘Chioma’ testified that she experienced extreme anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation due to the blogger’s claims.
“I felt defeated and depressed and I didn’t want to sleep with my husband,” she stated  adding that she suffered from fatigue, weight loss, migraines and anxiety due to the court case.
Cardi took Kebe to court in 2019 over dozens of videos including the that Cardi B was a prostitute.
Kebe also claimed the musician was addicted to hard drugs, was unfaithful to her husband Offset, and had contracted herpes.
Cardi B also disclosed that the herpes rumours in particular depressed her.
