Linkage Assurance, ETranzact Extend Stock Market Decline

Trading on Monday, May 12, ended with a N296.61 billion decline in Nigerian bourse’s market capitalisation, which fell to N68,04 trillion, from N68.33 trillion on Friday, May 9.

The decline was driven by a 0.54 percent decline in the all-share index (ASI), which lost 588.36 basis points to drop from 108,849.83 ASI to 108,261.47.

The stock market closed with 414,57 million shares exchanged by investors in 16,664 deals worth N10.71 billion, against the previous day’s 459.21 million shares, traded in 15,723 deals, worth N11.16 billion.

Top five gainers

  • Multiverse’s share price increased by N1 to rise from N10 to N11 per share.
  • SMURFIT’s share value grew by 10 percent, up from N0.50 kobo to N0.55 kobo per share.
  • Meyer ended trading at N8.80 kobo per share, from N8 per share – indicating an increase of N0.80 kobo.
  • Beta Glass gained N16.05 kobo to end trading at N176.70 kobo, having opened with N160.65 kobo.
  • HMCall’s share value was up by N0.42 kobo, after closing at N4.67 kobo from N4.25 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • ETranzact’s share price depreciated by N0.60 kobo, dwindling from N6 to N5.40 kobo per share.
  • John Holt recorded a N0.55 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5.25 kobo after opening with N5.80 kobo per share.
  • Union Dicon lost N0.80 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N7.65 kobo from N8.45 kobo per share.
  • C&I Leasing reported a decline of N0.35 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N4.21 kobo to end trading at N3.86 kobo per share.
  • Linkage Assurance recorded a N0.10 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N1.14 kobo after opening with N1.24 kobo per share.

  • Tantalizer reported that 49.18 million shares valued at N113.2 million were traded on its floor.
  • VFD Group recorded 48.87 million shares valued at N782.31 million.
  • Access Corporation saw investors trade 29.43 million of its shares valued at N629.37 million.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 24.31 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.18 billion.
  • AIICO reported 19.1 million shares valued at N30.98 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
