In a statement issued on Monday, the Anambra Refinement Group said Moghalu has all it takes to deliver quality leadership in the state if elected on 8 November 2025.

In the statement titled “George Moghalu: The Dawn of a New Beginning for Anambra State,” the group said Moghalu has a wealth of experience in public service, spanning over two decades and a network of national influence.

“With over two decades of unwavering public service, administrative excellence, and national influence, George Moghalu emerges not only as a candidate, but as a defining symbol of transformative leadership for Anambra State,” the group stated.

The group highlighted Moghalu’s political journey, which began in 1999, when he joined the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and “distinguished himself as a visionary” within the party; his days in the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he was a founding member and also served as National Auditor.

As Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Moghalu, according to the group, “cemented his reputation as a result-oriented technocrat, transforming Nigeria’s inland maritime infrastructure, streamlining operations, and introducing private-sector partnerships to previously underutilized sectors.”

The group asserted that given Moghalu’s trajectory, he commands a vast national and international network spanning government, business, traditional institutions, and the diaspora, and therefore has the ability to build and sustain bridges—across ethnic, political, and ideological divides— which “positions him as Anambra’s foremost unifier and negotiator.”

The group said the Labour Party candidate’s economic blueprint for the rebirth of the state is anchored on five pillars namely: MSME Renaissance programme – focused on raising youth and women entrepreneurs; Agro-Industrial Acceleration; revamping Port & Logistics sector in the state; Tourism & Culture Economy and Digital Skills & Employment.

The group further described Moghalu as a candidate with “a verifiable record of service delivery, an untainted reputation, an inclusive, multi-sectoral development plan, strong connections across federal agencies and donor institutions and trusted by the grassroots and elites alike.”
