Genevieve Blasts, Delivers Violent Prayer For Social Media Troll

Some social media trolls, who chose to be nasty with Veteran Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji, were given a dose of their own medicine on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

The multiple award- winning actress, had posted what looked like a beautiful painting of an Island with her picture in the background.

For those with an eye for artwork interpretation, it appeared like a representation of inner peace of mind and serene natural setting.

There were no words attached, but in reactions following the posts, some netizens chose to age shame the 45-year-old thespian listed as one of the richest Nollywood stars.

The social media trolls, while reacting on X formerly twitter, told the Nollywood star that she cannot cheat nature.

An X user@EmiTerfa, while reacting to the post said “You really cannot cheat nature. My fine wine is finally growing old.”

In response, Genevieve said things could be worse; she could get so old and eventually die if she was lucky.

She wrote: “It gets worse, bro. I’ll get so old I’ll die. If I’m lucky.”

Another troll called her “mummy,” implying that she was old, but Genevieve in response said  she would not wish him old age.

The troll wrote, “Mummy, u don old o” She responded, “Daddy, I don’t wish it on you”.

Genevieve is not the only victim of regular social media trolls over her looks. Afro beat singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage, known for her intermittent ‘crazy’ show and appearance has received more than her fear share of the those but has chosen to overlook them, while cruising on her chosen part.

Genevieve, who won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2005, making her the first actor to win the award, is regarded as one of the most talented actress in the film industry.

Her interpretation and delivery of roles had endeared her to many over the years. She has featured in scores of movies including Lion Heart, Critical Condition, Road to yesterday and Half of a yellow Sun to mention just a few.

Meanwhile, Veteran Nollywood actor, Segun Arinze, says the 16-year-old face-off between him and professional colleague, Emeka Ike, has ended to the glory of God. The two heavyweight actors Prime Business Africa understands stemmed from a leadership issue within the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in 2009. But in a recent interview Arinze revealed that the conflict ended naturally and that both men laughed over it.

Underscoring the importance, of moving on from grudges, Arinze said, “Emeka Ike is a fine actor. We still talk; we laugh about those things. It doesn’t change the fact that he is a fine actor.

“The conflict ended naturally. We were not quarrelling. It was just about the position. That’s why I left the position. He also had other things to do.

“Then time and chance happened. And we are growing old. He is my friend, and we are cool. I’ve asked him to come for lunch or dinner whenever he is around.

“What are we having enemies for? The work I am doing is enough of a burden. Hate is a burden. Travel light. How long do you have to live in the world? You want to carry it on your shoulders? What do I need that animosity for?”

Segun also praised his colleagues, including veteran actor Olu Jacobs, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Ramsey Nouah, for successfully avoiding typecasting. He admired their ability to grow and evolve in their careers.

When asked about the competitive nature of the Nollywood industry, Segun dismissed the idea of rivalry among actors.

Instead, he emphasised the importance of supporting and celebrating one another’s successes.

“There is no need for competition. The sky is big enough for the birds to fly. When I see my colleagues doing well, I am genuinely happy for them.

“You can’t play all the roles, can you? Can you be everywhere at the same time? When my colleagues win awards, I am happy for them.

“Why do you want to compete? Competition brings bad blood. It’s always teamwork, like footballers on a field”, he submitted.
