He made the visit in the company of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The 16 victims, said to be hunters, were allegedly killed by a vigilante group at Uromi, Edo State, while on their way to Kano. Reports indicated that the vigilante group mistook them for kidnappers who have been terrorising parts of Edo State.

The killing has generated nationwide reactions, with many describing it as jungle justice and demanding that the perpetrators be brought to book.

Speaking during the condolence visit, Governor Okpebholo said: “We are making arrangements to provide compensation to all the victims affected by this incident.”

The Edo governor, who commended the people of Kano State and the entire north for remaining calm in spite of the situation, assured that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the victims and commiserated with their families.
