Eguma Reveals Why Enyimba Performed Poorly, Hails Team Spirit

Stanley Eguma admits fatigue in Enyimba

Enyimba’s coach, Stanley Eguma, has blamed the club’s poor run in recent times to fatigue and tight travelling schedules.

Eguma who has watched his side go five games without a win in all competitions, however hailed the team spirit despite that the below par result.

“We’re currently navigating some fatigue in the team, especially considering our tight schedule since the beginning of January.

“With two matches every week, it has been a significant endeavour. Our recent travels, including a match in Ilorin just two days prior, have added to our challenges. However, we will continue to work diligently to overcome these hurdles.”

The Peoples Elephant were held to a 1-1 draw on Thursday, in their oriental derby against Heartland of Owerri, at the Aba Township Stadium, leaving the two-time Champions League winners in the 9th spot, on the league table, with 28 points in 20 games, four points away from the top four.

The team will continue their quest for improved outing on Sunday when they take on Lobi Stars in Lafia. Six matches are lined up for Sunday including Kano Pillars against Bayelsa United and Heartland against Rivers United.

Saturday will however see Bendel Insurance host Kastina United while Sunshine Stars slug it out with high flying Remo Stars in what promises to be an interesting South-West derby.

Remo Stars are going into the NPFL match 22 with 42 points in 21 games, 6 points above second-placed Shooting Stars, with a game in hand.
