Interim head coach of the Super Eagles Austin Eguavoen has admitted that it was a tough job of coming up with the final list of players for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Eguavoen who will be in charge of the three time African champions to Cameroon before returning to his position as the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation following the appointment of Jose Peseiro as the new chief coach of the team spoke tersely to the Nigeria Football Federation TV.

“It was tough coming up with the final list and since I got the news (of taking Eagles to Cameroon) I would say I don’t sleep well because of expectations.

“(But) I know not everybody wants us to succeed because they are in doubt but we will do everything humanly possible to put a smile on the faces of Nigerians,” Eguavoen who was in charge of the team at the 2008 AFCON in Ghana stated.

“It’s not a one-man show. We take brainstorm on ideas but I make the final decisions,” Cerezo, as he is affectionately called responded on his relationship with his assistant coaches.

The Eagles interim coach has named the 28 players to prosecute the Nations Cup campaign albeit alterations to the final list could be made before the December 31 deadline.
