Afcon Defending Champions Algeria Defeat Tunisia, Crowned FIFA Arab Cup Kings

African champions, Algeria underlined their readiness to defend their Africa Cup of Nations title late Saturday night at the Al Bayt Stadium as they were crowned champions of the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar and pockected the five million US dollars prize money.

 

In an all African final, Algeria defeated Tunisia 2-0 in extra time to win the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup trophy on Qatari soil.

 

The Desert Warriors thus claimed the title with the longest unbeaten streak in international football history snapping Italy’s longest undefeated streak in international football history with 38 consecutive games.

 

 

A few hours earlier, Qatar and Egypt faced off in the third-place match, both teams seeking consolation after their semi-final elimination on Wednesday.

 

The host nation won the bronze medal on penalties 4-5 on penalties with regulation ending scoreless.

 

Algeria are the defending African Champions, and have been unbeaten in their last 39 games.

 

His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani crowned the Algerian national team with the FIFA Arab Cup trophy.

Tunisia came in 2nd and Qatar 3rd place.

 

Meanwhile, Algeria also dominated the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 Official Awards

 

The FIFA Fair Play Award went to Morocco
