Nigerian Military Vows To Crush New Terror Group In Northwest

The Nigerian military has vowed to crush members of a terrorist sect currently operating in the North-west states of the country.

Director of Defence Media operation, Major General Edward Buba, who made this known while addressing newsmen on Thursday in Abuja, said the members of the terrorist group are currently operating in Sokoto and Kebbi states.

According to Buba, the group which he identified as Lukawaras, is affiliated to some terrorist sects in Mali and Niger.

“Troops are confronted with a new terrorist sect in the North-West. This sect is known as Lukawaras, the Lukawaras are affiliated to terrorists in the Sahel particularly from Mali and Niger Republic.

“They began incursion into Northern part of Nigeria, mainly Sokoto and Kebbi states, and like I mentioned, they came in from Niger and Mali axis,” General Buba said.

He disclosed that following the coup that caused Nigeria and Niger’s military collaboration to break down, the new terror group formed from Mali and the Republic of Niger.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) also declared nine notorious terrorist leaders, operating in the North West region, wanted and is calling on the public to assist with any information that could lead to their capture.
