Join our WhatsApp ChannelNewcastle United on Monday confirmed the appointment of Eddie Howe as the English Premier League football club’s senior team manager following the sack of Steve Bruce in October.
The former Bournmouth head coach signed a two and half year deal with the Toons.
“Newcastle United are delighted to confirm the appointment of Eddie Howe as the club’s new head coach on a contract until summer 2024,” the club said in a statement.
Bruce left Newcastle United on October 20, days after the club was bought by Saudi Arabian state’s sovereign wealth fund.
“It is a great honour to become head coach of a club with the stature and history of Newcastle United. It is a very proud day for me and my family,” Howe said at his unveiling.
“This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead of us and I am eager to get onto the training ground to start working with the players,” he added, thanking the club owners for this opportunity.
Howe, 43, previously coached Bournemouth in 2012-2020, but left after they were relegated to the second-tier Championship division.
With Howe at the helm, Bournemouth played in the Premier League between 2015 and 2020 and is known for his attacking style of play.
Newcastle United have only racked up five points in 11 matches to remain in the 19th position in the Premier League.
