Nigeria’s Kamaru Usman retained his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 268 Welterweight title Sunday morning at the Madison Square Garden, New York, USA in a difficult fight against challenger, Colby Covington that lasted five rounds.

Covington regained some momentum and ditched some jabs but Usman who originally hails from Edo state stood strong and his vast experience told in the end.
Both fighters showed respect for each other and embraced warmly, and ‘sheathing their swords’ following their well documented tiff.
The ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ said of his opponent:
“There was a lot of bad blood and I’m sure there will be some still but he is a tough son of a b****. When you share an octagon with someone tough you gain that respect. I can tell his technique and power has come up. I am the pound for pound best alive, we take our time, stay calculated.
“New York, thank you for coming out, I hope we put on a performance for you,” Usman said.
