INEC Confirm 2.5m Voters In Anambra Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that over 2.5m voters in 5, 724 polling units are exercising their franchise in today’s governorship election in Anambra State, Prime Business Africa reports.

Accreditation started around 8.30pm across the state but most voters who turned out to express their civic rights made complaints as regards the absence of military personnels and the biometric machines that are not working.

 

In Amesi, a security official who spoke with the media however reiterated that there was no cause for alarm security wise, not just in the town but across the state.

 

Anambra originally had 4,608 polling units, however INEC created additional 1,112 for the purpose of today’s election albeit 86 polling units have no registered voters and consequently elections care not expected to take place there.
