Nigeria’s Mixed Relay Team Crash Out, Set New Record

Nigeria’s quartet in the 4×400 mixed relay crashed out of the Olympics on Friday evening after finishing 4th in their heat.

The Nigerian quartet competing in lane 5 finished 3:11.99 creating a new record in the process but failing to qualify for the next stage.

The team that participated in the second heat finished behind heat winners, Britain, who posted  a time of 3:10.61  setting  new record, Netherlands and Italy respectively.

United States, France and Belgium qualified from the first heat.

The Nigerian quartet is made up of Samuel Ogazi, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Emmanuel Ifeanyi Ojeli and Patience Okon-George.

Chikwuebuka Enekwechi however qualified for the next stage in men’s shot put just as Obiageri Amaechi qualified for Women Discuss.
