1. Nigerians Support Bill For Single Tenure, Rotational Presidency, Governorship

Many Nigerians have declared their support for the bill proposed by 35 members of the House of Representatives seeking a single tenure of six years for president and governors as well as rotation of the presidency among the country’s six geopolitical zones and rotation of the governorship among the three senatorial districts in the states.
Nigerians have argued that if the bill is passed into law would end agitation, redefine the country’s democracy and bring peace and equity.

2. PoS Operators Lament Over Cash Scarcity

Some Point of Sale (PoS) operators have complained about their inability to access cash in banks.
According to them, they have now resorted to other sources of getting cash to serve their customers.

3. Man Arrested for Possession of Human Skull

A 37-year-old suspected ritualist, identified as Yusuf Adinohi, has been arrested by police detectives in Ondo state for possession of human skulls. He confessed that he ventured into the business to save his sick mother.

4. APC Will Be Voted Out In 2027 – Lukman

The immediate-past National Vice Chairman, North-west, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Moh. Lukman has stated that given the political trajectory of the APC so far, the party will be voted out of office in 2027.
He said the campaign to defeat APC and President Asiwaju Tinubu had just started, informing Governor Uba Sani that it would take root in Kaduna State.
Lukman announced his resignation from the party on Wednesday, 12 June 2024.
He said the reason for his resignation was based on the lack of internal democracy and the inability of the party leadership to allow the much-needed reforms within the party.

5. Naira Appreciates To N1,470/$ In Parallel Market

Naira appreciated from N1,500 per dollar to N1,470 per dollar on Thursday at the parallel market

6. Native Doctor Sentenced To Death for Kidnapping

A native identified as George Andrew alias Sunday Akpan Adede has been sentenced to death by hanging for kidnapping two brothers, Chief Israel Efefiong Utit and Pastor Bassey Utit by Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo on Friday.
The convict who hails from Ikono Local Government Area of the state, was standing trial on a six-count charge for conspiracy, kidnapping and armed robbery in which he was found guilty.

7. Appoint An Indigene for Lagos’ Ministerial Slot, Group Tells Tinubu 

A social-cultural organisation known as De Renaissance Patriots Foundation has urged the President to appoint an indigene of the IBILE division of Lagos to represent Lagos State in the Federal Executive Council, FEC.
In a statement by the President of the group, Prince Adelani Adeniji-Adele, the group stated that the choice of an indigene will “cement a better relationship with us and assuage the feelings of the indigenes towards being alienated.”

8. I Haven’t Changed My Stand Against Bad Leadership – Falz

Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana popularly called Falz is known for his songs which criticize bad leadership and address societal ills. However, his newly released EP titled “Before the Feast”, is quite different from others.
While speaking in an interview with Saturday Vanguard, he said, “I didn’t want to soak my fans in that emotion now. But it doesn’t mean that I have changed from who I am.”

9. NDLEA Intercepts 230,600 Tramadol Tablets, Arrests 106 Suspects in Kano

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command, said that it has intercepted 230,600 tablets of Tramadol and arrested 106 suspects in the state.

10. 774 LGs Can’t Afford N62,000 Minimum Wage — ALGON Boss

The Association of Local Government of Nigeria has raised concerns over the proposed N62,000 minimum wage, insisting that if approved, the wage may put a strain on the councils’ financial burden.
