Tems Premiers New Single During Tiny Desk Performance

On June 2, 2024, NPR released Tems’ new Tiny Desk performance, featuring tracks from her highly anticipated debut album, ‘Born In The Wild’. Backed by a live band, Tems started her set with her hit single ‘Me & U’, which has earned a nomination for Best Gospel/Inspiration Song at the 2024 BET Awards.

Following this, she delivered a rendition of ‘Ice T’ from her debut EP, ‘For Broken Ears’. The highlight of the performance was the debut of ‘Unfortunate’, an unreleased R&B track from her upcoming album. This was followed by another premiere, ‘Forever’, which blends elements of funk, jazz, and rumba.

This Tiny Desk appearance marks Tems’ second, following her home performance in 2022 for her sophomore EP ‘If Orange Is A Place’. Her latest set is part of NPR’s celebration of Black women, featuring nine Black female artists on the Tiny Desk stage.

‘Born In The Wild’, set for release on June 7, 2024, promises 18 tracks and includes guest appearances from Nigerian Grammy-nominated superstar Asake and American hip-hop star J Cole. This performance not only showcases Tems’ unique musicality but also builds anticipation for her debut album.
