Anambra Police Commissioner Mulls Creation Of Digital Surveillance Centres To Boost Intelligence Gathering, Security

Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has said Field Operations Surveillance Centers shall be created in Area Commands for effective intelligence gathering to boost security operations across the state.

The CP, who addressed sectional heads in the Operations Department of the State Command, also directed the creation of Field Operations Retraining Centers within Area Commands.

Since assumption of duty recently, CP Itam has continued to advocate a policing model that emphasises practical intelligence, technology-driven and tactical operations to boost security in the State.

According to a statement by the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the CP has also directed training of officers on the use of drones for surveillance, refresher courses on weapon handling, musketry, and other monitoring devices aimed to nip crime in the bud and guide investigations when crimes are committed.

The statement further said the Commissioner also restated his stand against any professional misconduct among police officers, particularly extortion and other forms of corruption, and urged the Officers to supervise personnel in their respective sections/Units.

Ikenga added that CP Itam warned that the Command under his watch would not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct by police personnel.

In attendance, is the Deputy Commissioner Of Police in charge of Operations, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Charge of Intelligence, Heads of Tactical Units including the Commander of Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD), the Commander of the Anti-kidnapping/Rapid Respond Squad, the Commander of Special Anti-Cultism Squad, among others
