Tems Announces New Album, See Trailer

Afrobeats sensation Tems has thrilled fans with the release of the trailer for her much-anticipated album, “Born in the Wild.” Set to be released in May 2024, this announcement comes hot on the heels of her performance at Coachella.

The one-minute trailer, released on April 15, 2024, paints a nostalgic picture of young children playing in a park. It hints at the album’s theme, potentially chronicling Tems’ journey from childhood to womanhood. The visuals evoke a sense of nostalgia as they depict a young Tems growing up in Lagos, highlighting moments like her mother cooking in their modest kitchen.

What’s more, the trailer features a snippet of the title track, “Born in the Wild,” which promises to be a standout song on the album. Adding to the excitement, Tems surprised Coachella attendees with an unreleased track from the album during her performance alongside superstars Justin Bieber and Wizkid.

The track, titled “Love Me Jeje,” samples Seyi Sodimu’s 1999 hit of the same name, resonating deeply with Nigerians who grew up in the ’90s. Interestingly, the album’s title bears a striking resemblance to Seyi Sodimu’s “Born In Africa,” further fuelling anticipation and suggesting a theme for the album.
