“This means that more seats are now available.

“Air Peace would like to thank the Nigerian population, both in Nigeria and in the United Kingdom, for their support.

“We do not take it for granted, and we will be doing our best to continue to make the whole country proud.”

Prime Business Africa reports that Air Peace began flight operations from Lagos to London Gatwick Airport on Saturday, 30 March 2023, becoming the first indigenous airline to resume the European route after the last one operated seven years ago.

Air Peace’s maiden flight to London was heralded with funfare as many Nigerians and the Federal Government threw their weight behind it, seeing it as a national pride.

According to the Air Peace Chairman and CEO, Dr Allen Onyema, the airline’s entry into the London route sparked competition as other foreign airlines were forced to crash their ticket prices.

In an interview with Arise News TV on Monday, Onyema said the airline’s ticket for the maiden flight to London were sold out by September last year when it announced the flight operations.

He also stated that the entry of indigenous airlines into international routes that currently, are mostly operated by foreign airlines, would contribute to strengthening the value of the naira, as every payment is done in the local currency.

He called on Nigerians to support indigenous airlines and also urged the government to create a conducive environment necessary for them to blossom and make significant contributions to the country’s economy.
