US Agencies To Begin Probe On Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe Helicopter Crash

As earlier reported by Prime Business Africa that helicopter crash near the California-Nevada border has claimed the lives of several individuals, including Herbert Wigwe, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Holding, and his family.

crash, which occurred in the Mojave Desert around 10 pm local time on Friday, February 9, near Nipton, California, involved a Eurocopter EC 130.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation into the incident. While the FAA has confirmed that six people were on board, details regarding casualties have not been disclosed.

Speaking to our reporter, a source familiar with the matter revealed that Wigwe was among the victims of the crash. “A whole family was wiped out,” the source lamented. It has been further confirmed by Dr. Kingsley Nwokoma, the President of the Association of Foreign Airlines and Representatives in Nigeria, who expressed sorrow over Wigwe’s demise. “This is a big loss. He didn’t die alone, both his wife and son were involved,” Nwokoma stated.

Wigwe, a prominent figure in the business world, had been en route to the Super Bowl event in Las Vegas, scheduled for Sunday.

His untimely death comes as a shock to many, especially considering his recent initiatives such as the planned investment of $500 million in Wigwe University, aimed at bolstering skills crucial for Nigeria’s finance and technology sectors.

The news of Wigwe’s passing has sent shockwaves through both the business and aviation communities, prompting an outpouring of condolences and reflections on his contributions to society.

As investigations into the crash continue, the tragic loss of Herbert Wigwe serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
