Israeli authorities claim the militants were plotting an assault from within the hospital, while the Palestinian Ministry of Health accuses Israel of a “new massacre.”

In the aftermath, Hamas confirms one of its members among the slain, labeling the incident an “execution.” The two other militants are reported to be brothers affiliated with Palestinian Islamic Jihad, one receiving treatment at the hospital. Tensions in the West Bank have surged since the October 7 assaults, with frequent clashes and Israeli raids.

The UN reports at least eight Palestinians killed by Israeli forces, and 357 Palestinian fatalities, including assailants, bystanders, and terrorists, in the West Bank since October 7th.

Ten Israelis have also lost their lives in attacks originating from the West Bank during the same period.

Israel Defense Forces state the deceased Hamas suspect had planned an attack inspired by the October 7th massacre, which led to a military assault in Gaza. Over 26,600 Palestinians, primarily civilians, reportedly died in the Gaza onslaught.

Israeli special forces, numbering around ten, reportedly infiltrated the hospital, targeting the militants with silenced rifles. Wafa, the Palestinian news agency, refers to the incident as an “assassination.” The situation underscores the complex and volatile dynamics prevailing in the region, with both sides trading accusations amid ongoing violence.
