Addressing the situation, the anonymous Globacom official expressed dismay at the public pre-disconnection notice circulated by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) via social media. “We are not owing MTN any interconnect charges,” the official declared.

The notice, issued by Reuben Muoka, the Director of Public Affairs at NCC, cited Glo’s failure to settle debts despite repeated attempts at resolution. However, the Glo insider contested the claims, suggesting that a fact-checking exercise should have preceded the allegation.

“We have fulfilled our financial obligations to MTN, and this unfortunate misrepresentation damages our credibility,” emphasized the Glo official as reported by NAN.

Additionally, the official highlighted Glo’s pioneering introduction of the pay-per-second billing model, asserting the company’s role in breaking the monopoly of foreign telecommunications entities operating in Nigeria.

“Such reports against Nigeria’s fully indigenous telecommunications company, which has revolutionized access to communication across all strata, are baseless and misleading,” stated the Glo official.

This turn of events challenges the widely circulated narrative and raises questions about the accuracy of the initial claims made against Globacom’s alleged indebtedness to MTN, inviting further scrutiny into the matter.
