2023 AFCON: Equatorial Guinea Face Djibouti For Nigeria, Releases 27-Man Squad

Nigeria’s first Group A rivals in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivorie in January 14, Equatorial Guinea will play Djibouti in January 9th in a warm up friendly ahead of the 33rd edition of the tournament.

The Central African side were initially scheduled to play against five-time AFCON champions, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a similar pre tournament friendly but opted out after the game was cancelled due to logistics reasons.

The Equatorial Gunieans are making their fourth appearance at the tournament after a debut in 2012 when they hosted the African continent.

The team will be buoyed to take on the Nigerian team that struggled to get a result against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in their first two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures.

The official team list for AFCON 2023, made up of 27 players and mostly based in Spain have been released.

All squads are provisional until the final list of 27 players is announced by CAF after submission on January 3.
