Osewa disclosed that an overlooked abusive report initially sent on the 14th, led to the site’s temporary takedown. He clarified that the offensive content was promptly removed, but complications arose due to the content possibly remaining cached on Cloudflare servers.

In response to the disruption, users on platform X, many of whom frequent Nairaland, voiced disappointment and concerns. One user, @BashirAhmaad, questioned the cause of the outage, while @SatisfiedLoner_ criticized the forum’s tribalistic tendencies.

@jigslionheart suggested investing in an independent server, while @ebunleyi criticized the handling of the situation by Seun Osewa, stating that the forum means a lot to Nigerians and should be given more attention and resources.

@rani_reine and @akintollgate expressed frustration over the prolonged downtime and urged for scalability and better infrastructure for Nairaland.

Additionally, @Bimfo offered advice to Osewa, proposing the establishment of an in-house abuse team and volunteering for employment.

The outage has sparked debates and calls for better management and infrastructure for the revered Nigerian online platform.

In response to the outcry, Osewa has yet to provide further updates, leaving users eagerly awaiting the site’s full restoration and possible measures to prevent future disruptions.
