The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) announced the election of two Nigerian delegates into prominent leadership roles at the ongoing International Telecommunications Union (ITU)’s World Radio Communications (WRC) Conference 2023 in Dubai.

“Excited about the election of our colleagues, Engr. Oshadami and Dr Lawal, as global radiocommunication leaders, it’s an honour for NCC and Nigeria Communications Satellite Limited,” stated Dr Maida.

He emphasized the pivotal role these positions would play in aligning Nigeria’s telecom objectives with global standards and advancing the National Broadband Plan.

Commending the leadership of Dr Bosun Tijani, the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, for guiding and supporting Nigeria’s delegation, Maida highlighted the significance of their triumph at the WRC 2023.

The WRC Conference is pivotal for determining the allocation of finite spectrum resources that power our everyday technologies.

Maida reiterated that the elected delegates’ roles would fortify Nigeria’s global standing in the telecom domain, aligning national interests with international best practices.

Furthermore, Dr Maida urged the elected delegates to fulfil the high expectations entrusted upon them by the global radiocommunication community, while acknowledging the impactful presence of the Honourable Minister at the conference as a testament to the Federal Government’s commitment.

During the event, Dr. Maida engaged with key figures in the global telecom industry, including meetings with ITU leaders and the UAE’s Director General of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, fostering collaborations and discussing regulatory efficacy.

This remarkable success at the WRC 2023 not only elevates Nigeria’s influence in the global telecom arena but also signifies a step forward in aligning national strategies with international benchmarks.
