'Something Like Gold' Is Nollywood’s Highest Grossing Movie

New Nollywood movie, “Something Like Gold”,  has been recorded as this week’s highest grossing title. Produced by Sandra Okunzuwa, who also takes the lead role, narrates a captivating story of love’s resurgence after the heartbreak of being jilted at the altar.

“Something Like Gold”, has amassed  ₦60 million in revenue, as reported by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) for the week of November 24-30, 2023.

Surprisingly, despite securing the 11th spot on the Top 20 Nigerian Box Office charts, this romantic comedy has managed to surpass expectations.

Other notable films gracing the Nollywood scene include “Bank Alert” and “Egun,” securing the third and fourth positions, respectively.

Okey Bakassi’s  comedy, “Bank Alert,” stole the limelight during its first week with an impressive ₦12.1 million in earnings.

Meanwhile, the horror drama, “Egun,” accumulated ₦3.8 million in its first week and an overall total of ₦12.9 million since its debut two weeks ago.

At the top of the chart, international blockbusters like “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” and “The Marvels” continue to dominate with impressive gross figures of ₦20.1 million and ₦19.9 million, respectively, for the week under review.
