In a move aimed at tackling multidimensional poverty, the Nigerian Federal Government has disbursed N135.4 billion to states and the FCT through the NG-CARES initiative.
Dr. Abdulkarim Obaje, National Coordinator of NG-CARES, highlighted the impact of this funding allocation on the country’s poverty alleviation efforts.
Join our WhatsApp Channel“The top three best-performing states in this Second Round of Assessment are Nasarawa which earned N13.7 billion, Cross River N10.9 billion, and Zamfara N10.2 billion,” stated Obaje, emphasizing the strides made in addressing poverty under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Acknowledging the role of Senator Atiku Bagudu, the Minister for Budget and Economic Planning, in spearheading the NG-CARES program, Obaje praised the collaborative efforts of state Governors, the FCT Minister, and the World Bank in supporting this critical initiative.
The NG-CARES Programme, a World Bank-assisted scheme, operates across all states and the FCT through integrated Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
It serves as a vital channel for delivering aid to impoverished and vulnerable populations, aiming to enhance livelihood support, food security, and grants for disadvantaged households and firms.
The allocation of funds reflects the outcomes achieved by states, showcasing Nasarawa, Cross River, and Zamfara as trailblazers in the quest for socio-economic recovery and poverty eradication.
