The All Progressives Congress (APC) accused Governor Duoye Diri and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of making efforts to unlawfully pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The accusation alleges an attempt to manipulate the election result in favor of the PDP by moving the collation of votes from Brass Local Government Area to Yenagoa, the State capital.

Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, emphasized the significance of Brass as a major stronghold for their party, stating that the people have voted for their candidate, Timipre Sylva. He urged INEC to adhere to the law and conduct the collation in Brass before moving to Yenagoa for the final state collation.

Furthermore, the APC condemned Governor Diri’s alleged incitement of violent protests at the Peace Park in Yenagoa, labeling it as irresponsible and a violation of his duties as the Governor. Morka emphasized that the people of Bayelsa deserve a peaceful election and urged Governor Diri to cease actions that might disrupt the peace and safety of the state.

In their plea, the APC called for order in the Bayelsa election and implored Governor Diri to uphold the responsibilities of his office as the Chief Security Officer of Bayelsa State.
