Nigerian Govt Proposes 5% Tax On Telecom, Gaming, Betting Services

As a means of leveling up with the impoverished people of his state who are currently grappling with economic challenges, the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has opted not to celebrate his birthday due for tomorrow, the 27th of October.

The Governor, in a press statement issued yesterday by Humwashi Wonosikou, his Chief Press Secretary, said he is sensitive to the hardships faced by the people as a result of the economic realities of President Bola Tinubu government’s policy direction.

This is coming on the heels of Mbaise people in Imo State going on bended knees to appreciate Pope Francis for “giving them temporary relief from the present economic hardship in Nigeria that has created the national mood of sadness and grief due to hunger and starvation resulting from economic stagnation.”

According to Governor Fintiri, “The solution to today’s new and complex challenges requires the strengthening and revitalization of an inclusive governance and policy direction which we are determined to pursue until every community is touched and nobody is left behind.”

He maintained not to be favourably disposed to celebrating his birthday while poverty stares Adamawa people in the face, stressing that “I am a Governor who has human feelings and will not leave anything to chance until all Adamawa citizens are comfortable.”

The Governor rather requested that prayers be said on Friday in Mosques and in Churches on Sunday for peace and harmony in the land amid the challenges of fuel subsidy removal.

He went on to urge Adamawa citizens as well as his friends and associates to avoid lavish ceremonies in the name of celebrating his birthday.
