Super Eagles Gets World’s Top 10 Rating Of Most Valueable National Teams

October 22, 2023

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been rated the 10th most valueable national football team in the world according to a new publication by football statistical website, Transfermarkt.

The three-time African champions are ranked 40th in the world by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and 6th in Africa but the latest ranking by the reverred website takes cognizance of other factors.

The Eagles are considered to possess one of the deadliest striking options in world football with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, Terem Moffi, Gift Orban, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi forming on paper, arguably Africa’s best collection of attacking talents.

The team’s midfield have equally talented players but there is considerable apprehension as regards the team’s goalkeeping options as high profile errors have severely been punished by the opposition especially from setpieces.

On the positive side of things, the Nigerian side is considered the most fashionable in terms of team apparels and jerseys donned at major international tournaments.

Prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the team’s jerseys produced by Nike sold out barely few hours after it was released.

The list of countries whose values have soared high in recent months include England, Argentina, Portugal, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Italy, Brazil and Spain.

According to another ratings released by football website, Live Scores, the Super Eagles are valued at €364m in the top five places on the African continent.

In second place behind Nigeria is the Atlas Lions of Morocco who became the first African nation to reach the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup.

Morocco, one of the designated hosts of the 2030 FIFA World Cup in FIFA’s centenary anniversary, is valued at €297m while hosts of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations between January and February 2024 is Ivory Coast.

The Elephants, Live Score ratings indicate, are valued at €285m while the fourth and fifth place are comprised of Semegal and Ghana at €216m respectively.
