'BBNaija' Star Neo Akpofure Donates To Prisoners

The popular saying “Charity begins at home” took on a profound meaning when Neo Akpofure, popularly known as NeoEnergy, recently returned to his home town in Warri. The former Big Brother Naija star made a visit to the local correctional facility.

In a photograph shared on his Instagram account, NeoEnergy can be seen standing in front of the correctional facility, with the warden and prison staff.

Reflecting on his visit, he wrote, “Couldn’t have visited my Warri without visiting the Nigerian Correctional service again. Growing up and living inside the prisons because my mum was a warden, I developed a soft spot for some of these prisoners, especially after listening to some of their stories of how life dealt them a bad hand.”

He emphasized that ensuring humane conditions for inmates is a central goal of his foundation, the Amakazat Foundation.

He stated, “This is one of the projects I’m intentional and passionate about. One of the core missions of @amakazat_ foundation, founded by yours truly, is to ensure that there is hope even behind bars, that prisons in Nigeria continue to serve the purpose of being correctional facilities. In a bid to achieve that, we have decided to make sure that these prisoners live under humane conditions while being confined until they’re reintegrated back into society.”

Neo Akpofure’s compassionate gesture didn’t go unnoticed, as friends and fans flooded his comment section with messages of encouragement and gratitude. Some expressed concerns about the distribution of the provisions, questioning whether the inmates would truly benefit from them. In response, NeoEnergy reassured them that he personally delivered the provisions to the prisoners after entering the correctional facility.

He put these concerns to rest, writing in his comment section, “For those saying the inmates won’t get it, I entered the prison & I shared it myself to the prisoners. Thanks for your concern.”
