2023: Okwesilieze Nwodo Endorses Peter Obi For President

June 23, 2022

Former governor of Enugu State, Chief Okwesilieze Nwodo has indicated his support for Mr. Peter Obi to become Nigeria’s next president 2023.

Nwodo while endorsing Obi said the people of the South East would look beyond party lines, stating that what happen during the presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) where accroing to him delegates of the region sold their votes against the common agenda of working to see that the country next president emerged from the area.

In a statement released by his media aide, Nwodo said the Southeast cannot afford to remain marginalized while serving other regions of the country.

Part of the statement read, “Igbos will not remain political slaves serving other geo-political zones in Nigeria. I know that politics is dynamic. This is a period of political alignment and re-alignment for the Igbo politicians so that our common interest can see the light of the day.

“The Igbos would be looking for allies who can meet their irreducible minimum to remain part of Nigeria political system. While they look for that in the major political parties, they have a big plan B in other parties. I know that the two important Igbos would be on the ballot paper for their political parties.

“The one that is most promising is Mr. Peter Obi, of the Labour Party,” Nwodo stated.

Obi who has been garnering popularity in recent times for his articulation on how to resolve issues posing as threat to good governance in Nigeria, joined the Labour Party and became their presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

This was after dumping the PDP where he had pursued same ambition, but his interest became threatened.

Nwodo has been one of the notable political figures campaigning vigorously for Nigeria’s next president to emerge from Southeast, saying that it should be done on the basis of equity, fairness and justice.
