10,600 PVCs Collected In Lagos On Dec 31, Jan1

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State distributed 10,603 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) on 31 December 2022 and January 1, 2022, across 20 local government areas.   

Documents released by the Commission shows that, for 31 December 2022, a total of 8,264 PVCs were collected, out of which 4,854 were male and 3,410 were female voters.

On January 1 this year, 2,339 persons collected their PVCs. Of the number, 1,458 were males and 881 were female voters.

INEC began the distribution of PVCs to newly registered voters at its offices in the 774 local government areas across the country on December 12 and would decentralise collection to various wards from January 6, 2023.

However, the commission had at a briefing in Abuja, December 29, revealed that 1.6 million (1,693,963) were yet to be collected in Lagos.

A tabular summary to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja, categorised the uncollected PVCs into 916,961 old cards and 777,002 new cards. The document further showed that Lagos has received 7,510,491 cards from INEC headquarters, comprising 6,570,291 old cards and 940,200 new cards.

According to INEC, Lagos has about seven million registered voters.
