Nigeria’s U20 record holder in the Athletics Women’s 100m, Tima Godbless will on Wednesday night (early Thursday morning in Nigeria) seek to secure a place in the final of the World Athletics Championship in Cali, Colombia reports Prime Business Africa.

Godbless ran a new 11.09 seconds lifetime best in the first round which has become the fastest time ever ran by a Nigerian in the competition and the fastest opening round heats in the history of the championships.

Godless will run in lane four of the semifinals race and her ultimate aim will be to break the record held by Twanisha Terry who ran a time of 11.03 seconds when the Championship was held in Tampere, Finland in 2018.

Godbless  scorched to a Personal Best and National Junior Record of 11.08s (0.1), to win the fourth heat of the Women’s 100m event in Cali.

In doing so, she broke the record set by Jfoemer trackster Joan Uduak Ekah which had stood for 23 years and was the fastest qualifier across all seven heats of the Women’s 100m.

The Championship began and will be closed at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Santiago de Cali, Colombia on Saturday, August 6.
