Video: Large Volume Of Water Discharged From Aircraft Tank After Supply Of Contaminated Fuel

A video trending online shows a Nigerian airline aircraft being drained of large volumes of water after it was discovered that it supplied contaminated aviation fuel.

The aircraft was said to have developed some faults that led to it being grounded, and with a check, it was discovered that the aviation fuel was mixed with water.

Reacting to the incident, an Afro-industrial revolutionist, Maazi Obinna Agommuo, described the suppliers of such aviation fuel as murderers, who do not care about the implication but only want to make money.

He wondered why people could unscrupulously engage in such practice knowing full well that any problem that occurs while an aircraft is flying, could lead to a crash, resulting in loss of lives.

He called on the Federal Government to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book and also ensure proper regulation to save the country’s aviation sector from potential danger.

“The Aviation Industry in Nigeria may be heading to yet another era of incessant plane crashes if the current pernicious enterprise by some unscrupulous elements in the aviation fuel industry is not nipped in the bud,” Agommuo said.

“Aviation Fuel suppliers now mix water with Aviation fuel (Jet fuel) or Aircraft Turbine Kerosene (ATK) before supplying the same to unsuspecting Airline Owners who in turn power their Airplane engines with adulterated aviation fuel.

“For God’s sake, Airplanes are not like Automobiles which when their engines develop fault due to adulterated fuel, the Drivers are at liberty to pull over immediately for a check or quickly drain their Fuel Tanks, refill their tanks with genuine fuel and still continue on their journeys. There’s no parking space or slots for Airplanes in the Air and as such the Pilots would have no other choice than to crash land their planes which most times results in colossal loss of lives in their tens and hundreds.

“The Federal Government must therefore move to immediately ensure the perpetrators of this dastardly act as recorded in this video are brought to book and ensure proper regulation is put in place to avoid looming catastrophe in the Aviation industry in Nigeria.”

Recall that last week, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) suspended the operations of all Boeing B737 aircraft belonging to one of the domestic carriers, Max Air. The industry regulator said the suspension was due to a series of incidents involving Max Air’s Boeing 737 aircraft including fuel contamination resulting in auxiliary power unit shutdown and an aborted take-off, among other technical faults.
