Former Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili has called for an  independent investigation into the controversy surrounding the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score of Mmesoma Ejikeme.

Miss Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Grammar School, Nnewi, was said to have scored 362 in the 2023 UTME.

However, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) during the weekend, countered the claim accusing her of forging the result to attract awards which includes the N3 million awarded to her by Innoson Motors as scholarship.

According to JAMB Mmesoma‘s  real scored is 249.

Reacting to the controversy, Dr Ezekwesili said there is a need for  independent tech experts to be engaged at this point to conduct forensic investigation to unravel what really happened for the public to know.

The former Minister in a statement via her verified Twitter handle said the investigation would help to clear the air on whether she got the score or not.

“This saga between Mmesoma Ejikeme and @JAMBHQ requires an Independent Tech investigation to unearth all facts. Listening to her in this video, it is reasonable to request a forensic-investigation to help reveal what really happened. I have reached out to the Registrar of JAMB,” Ezekwesili wrote on Monday.

“An Independent investigation would turn this curious episode into a Learning Opportunity for @JAMBHQ and everyone, especially students.

“I frankly see no downsides in asking a team of Independent Technology folks to investigate and publicly share their findings. Let’s do it,” she added.
