Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Uriel Oputa, has rubbished the age-long saying that the way to a man’s heart is his stomach.
Apparently speaking from experience, the actress cum musician revealed that she had jettisoned the idea of cooking for a man as a way of keeping him because it does not work.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelTaking to her Instagram page on Thursday, the 37-year-old entrepreneur, and social media influencer, insisted that it does not matter how well you cook or how good you look, a man can still surprise you.
According to the health enthusiast, “There is no special recipe to keep a man. If you like, be the best cook (like me). Have the most banging body. He will still surprise you.”
She went on to explain that, in her view, a man will stay only if he truly wants to:
“The only recipe that works? A man will only be kept if he wants to be kept. Period.”
Uriel Ngozi Oputa who became famous after appearing in Big Brother Naija season 2 in 2017, urged women who still believe in the adage and cooking solution, to prioritise their own well-being, the reality star concluded: “As for me? I don’t cook for man again peace of mind is my portion control. Happy Thursday! She submitted with an air of finality.
Uriel Oputa who missed winning the Best Dressed Female award of the recently held 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) by whiskers, blamed late coming to the event for her fate.
Recall that fellow former BBNaija star, Liquorose Afije, won the Best Dressed Female award at the 2025 AMVCA, while her colleague, Prince Nelson, took home the Best Dressed Male, with each of them carting away ₦1 million cash prize
However, reacting to the development, Uriel Oputa, in a post via Instagram on Saturday night, claimed that she lost the Best Dressed Female award to Liquorose due to her lateness at the event.
She wrote, “This is not to knock anyone’s design. Everyone looked stunning.
“But let us be honest, the only reason I didn’t win best dressed is because I was not there on time. Nobody can tell me my dress didn’t eat.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian Grammy award-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has revealed the reason for dumping her digital marketing job to pursue music career.

The ‘Love Me Jeje’ hitmaker, in a recent conversation with Billboard, explained that despite the fears of quitting her job, she was confident in divine direction; especially as she felt digital marketing was not her destined career.
Tems said she waited six months after quitting her job before releasing her first single, ‘Mr Rabel,’ which gained some traction.
She said, “[I quit my digital marketing job because] it got to a point where I couldn’t take anymore. It was really dawning on me like, it’s now or never. I was just putting it off until I developed faith that God will see me through wherever I go.
“I quit my job in January 2018, I released ‘Mr Rabel’ six or seven months after I quit my job. Spiritually, I was aware that digital marketing wasn’t my path; I need to leave this place right now. It felt really like, life or death. It was like this can make or break your destiny, and you need to make a decision right now. I chose to quit and it worked out.”
Tems gained prominence after she was featured on Wizkid’s 2020 global hit, ‘Essence,’ which peaked at No.9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In 2022, she became the first African artist to debut N0.1 on the Billboard HOT 100 chat, through Future’s song, ‘Wait 4 U,’ which featured her and Drake. The song also won a Grammy for Best Melodic Rap the following year.
In February 2025, Tems won another Grammy for her song, ‘Love Me Jeje’, for Best African Music Performance.
