Europe’s most successful team in the UEFA champions League,Real Madrid on Wednesday night qualified for the semifinals of the competition after a nervy 4-3 penalty win over current champions Manchester City at the Etihad stadium, reports Prime Business Africa.

Both sides came into the second leg of the quarterfinals tied on 3-3 aggregate scoreline but Madrid were the first to strike in regulation time which ended 1-1 through Brazil international, Rodrygo.

City had several attempts but were not able to put them away.

In the 76th however, Kevin de Bruyne restored parity for the Cityzens but there no was no separating the two European sides in 90 minutes.

The game extended to extra time but none of the chances were put away.

After full 120 minutes of action, the lottery of penalties was required and Real Madrid triumphed.

Antonio Rudiger took the last and decisive kick for Real Madrid after Jude Bellingham, Lucas Vazquez, Nacho all scored albeit Luka Modric missed his own kick.
