UCL: Real Madrid Beats Liverpool At Anfield In Seven-goal Thriller

UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid produced a stunning comeback from two goals down to earn a pulsating 5-2 victory at Anfield against Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday night.

Two brilliant goals each from Vinicius Jr. and Karim Benzema turned the tide in favour of the Spanish champions who was recently crowned the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah got the Reds in front and it seemed the night was meant for Jurgen Klopp’s troops but Madrid rallied back from the disappointment of conceding in the 4th and 10th minutes largely due to the goalkeeping gaffe of Thibaut Courtois.

Vinicius struck a sublime shot to find the bottom right corner and scored from a fruituous effort after another goalkeeping, error this time, by Allison Becker’s mistake to level the match by halftime.

Ederson grabbed the second goal through a bullet header early on the second half through centreback, Eder Militao.

Influential striker and captain, Karim Benzema ensured that there was no coming back for the English media at he scored twice to silence the hitherto vociferous crowd.
