UCL: Rampant Real Madrid Thrash Shakhtar Courtesy Of Vini Junior, Benzema, Rodrygo Goals

Real Madrid got back to winning ways in the UEFA Champions League with a 5-0 mauling of Ukrainians Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday evening.

Madrid were second in Group D heading to this game two points ahead of Inter Milan and Shakhtar and three points behind surprise group leaders Sheriff Tiraspol of Moldova who shocked Carlo Ancelotti’s with a 2-1 defeat in their last group fixture.

Madrid went ahead in the 37th minute thanks to a Sergey Kristov own goal while trying to defend the ball against Karim Benzema who was poised to pounce on a cross.

Vini Junior who has been in imperious form for the Galaticos secured a hattrick while Rodrygo and Benzema all got on the scoresheet.

After the own goal, the 23 times European champions doubled their lead with a fine team effort when Benzema won the ball and squared the ball to Luka Modric.

The Croatia international then rolled back the years when he produced an exquisite pass onto the path of Vini Junior who lobbed the ball above the Shakhtar goalkeeper.

The Brazilian showed real compusure to make it 3-0 and grab his brace for the night after an assist from Benzema.

Brazilian youngster Rodrygo then made it 4-0 on the night with a composed finish after he was found by Vini Junior

Benzema then rounded off the goals of the night with a well taken strike to reward his industry all night.
