The UEFA Champions League quarterfinals and semifinals draws were held on Friday with some tantalising fixtures on the horizon reports Prime Business Africa.
Three English Premier League sides, three Spanish League clubs and one each from the Bundesliga and Portuguese league are left in the quarter-finals.
Defending champions Chelsea will face 13-time European kings Real Madrid in the last 8 of the competition.
Chelsea defeated the La Liga leaders 3-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals of the 2021 edition as they went on to defeat Man City 1-0 in the final in Portugal.
But less than a year, the two giants face each other again.
To reach the quarter-finals, Chelsea defeated Lille of France 4-1 aggregate while Madrid pulled a shocker against PSG as they defeated them 3-2 on aggregate on Tuesday.
In the other draws, 2021 finalists, Manchester City will have their hands full as they face Atletico Madrid.
Villarreal parading Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze eliminated Juventus with a 3-0 drubbing in Turin on Wednesday and will battle Bundesliga giants and former champions, Bayern Munich.
The final fixture in the last 8 stage will see 2020 champions, Liverpool take on Benfica.
The winner of the Manchester City and Athletico Madrid matches will face Either Chelsea or Real Madrid in the semi-finals while the second semi-final fixture will be between the winners of Benfica and Liverpool matches and Villarreal vs Bayern Munich.
The first leg of the quarter-final matches will hold on 5/6 April while the return legs will be a week later on 12/13 April
Semi-final matches will hold on 26/27 April and
second legs on 3/4 May respectively.
The final of the 2022 UEFA Champions League will hold on Saturday 28 May at the Stade de France, Paris, France
