Teams participating in this year’s Club World Cup, have received a huge boost after FIFA on Wednesday, approved a special transfer window from June 1 to June 10.
Ordinarily the summer window should have opened on June 16 and run till September 1.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelAll 20 Member Associations with clubs in this summer’s restructured Club World Cup agreed to an extraordinary registration period from June 1 to June 10, enabling their affiliated clubs to register newly signed players for the tournament, as stated by the global governing body of football.
Additionally, FIFA revealed a supplementary in-competition transfer window, scheduled to be open from June 27 to July 3.
“The objective is to encourage clubs and players whose contracts are expiring to find an appropriate solution to facilitate the players’ participation,” added FIFA.
“This will ensure that the best players will be playing, allowing clubs to add new recruits even during the tournament.”
The 2025 Club World Cup will feature 32 teams from across the globe and run from June 14 to July 13 in the United States.

It will be the first time it is held with this model, and comes with a major novelty: the financial prizes. FIFA will distribute a total of 929 million euros among the participating clubs.

Of that total amount, 500 million euros will be given as a fixed amount. The rest will be distributed in variables, according to each team’s performance. European clubs will take the largest share of 284 million euros.
Real Madrid, as European champion, will start with an initial guaranteed amount of 35 million euros. Meanwhile, Atlético de Madrid—another of the qualifiers—will have 20 million euros fixed.
The new tournament format has a structure similar to the World Cup for national teams. There will be a group stage and knockout rounds.
Each phase surpassed has an assigned extra prize for advancing. The tournament could mean a huge windfall for Real Madrid, whose coach, Carlo Ancelotti, is expected to take over as Brazil Coach after the Club World Cup.
If Real Madrid manages to lift the title, the earnings would be historic. Adding the fixed amount (35m euros) plus the amounts for each phase surpassed, the total would reach 145 million euros.

The new Club World Cup is set to become a very important event, not only for sporting prestige but also for its economic impact, especially for European teams like Real Madrid, which start as favourites.
African clubs that will be in running for the FIFA Club World Cup largesse include; Al Ahly FC (EGY), Wydad AC (MAR), Espérance Sportive de Tunis (TUN)and Mamelodi Sundowns FC (RSA)
