Transfer Roundup: Sommer, Depay Set For New Clubs As Top European Leagues Spend €373.2m

Sommer German Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach have agreed a deal in principle for the signing of goalkeeper, Yann Sommer.

After months of negotiations, both parties on Wednesday evening brokered an agreement.

The Germany international will consequently travel to Munich for a medical.

The keeper, according to Sky Sports Denmark, will sign a two-year contract until 2025 with the option of an extension for a year.

Meanwhile, Dutch winger, Memphis Depay is expected to sign for Spanish La Liga side, Atletico Madrid, after his club Barcelona accepted to let him move to the title rivals.

The move is reportedly worth €3m.

Reports in the Spanish media reveal that Depay was only interested in a move to Atletico and would have rejected any agreement to sell him to another club.

Depay is heading to Atletico as a direct replacement for Joao Felix who joined Chelsea on loan in the last seven days.

Alejandro Garnacho has agreed terms on a new contract at Man United on a deal thought to be until 2029 – plus an option of an extra year.  The contract is worth over £30,000 per week.

Leicester are closing in on permanent deal for left back, Victor Kristiansen to join FC Copenhagen.

The deal will cost €20m with add-ons included.

In France, full agreement was reached on Wednesday between Olympique Marseille and Italian side, AC Monza for the player, Pol Lirola on loan with a clause that contains an option to buy.

A breakdown of the monies spent on the January transfer window so far shows that a total of €320m has been spent by English clubs.

Struggling Spanish side, Elche, were in line to sign the player on loan but that has been reversed.

Spanish sides have spent €19m in the current window.

German Bundesliga clubs have doled out a total of €16.9m paid to clubs within the country’s leagues or abroad.

The French Ligue 1 sides have spent €10.06m and for Italian teams, €6.7m have been spent.
