Transcorp Hotels, Ikeja Hotel, Others Record Gains, Stock Market Cap Up By N421bn

NGX: Investors Gain N313bn As ASI Rebound By 0.70%

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) disclosed that the stock exchange appreciated by 1.30 per cent or N421.19 billion in value on Tuesday.

According to the data obtained from NGX, this increased the stock market valuation or capitalisation to N32.72 trillion, from Monday’s N32.30 trillion.

The All-Share Index jumped from 59,335.88 ASI to 60,108.86 ASI. This is an increase of 772.98 basis points.

About 763.69 million shares, worth N12.53 billion, were traded on Tuesday in 9,463 deals. 

During trading the previous day, over 552.68 million shares were exchanged in 8,052 deals, worth N13.05 billion. 

Top five gainers 

  • Ikeja Hotel’s share appreciated by N0.33 kobo, rising from N3.30 kobo to N3.63 kobo per share. 
  • Afromedia grew by 10 per cent, up from N0.20 kobo to N0.22 kobo per share.  
  • Courtville ended trading with N0.66 kobo from N0.60 kobo per share, rising by 10 per cent.  
  • Omatek gained 10 per cent to end trading at N0.33 kobo, having opened with N0.30 kobo per share.  
  • Transcorp Hotel’s stock was up by N1.93 kobo, closing at N21.29 kobo from N19.36 kobo per share.

Top five losers 

  • Redstar Express depreciated by N0.35 kobo, dwindling from N3.50 kobo to N3.15 kobo per share.  
  • C&I Leasing also fell by N0.38 kobo to end trading at N3.50 kobo, after opening at N3.88 kobo per share.  
  • Morison followed the same path, losing N0.20 kobo after trading hours, to sell at N1.97 kobo from N2.17 kobo per share.  
  • Sovereign Insurance reported a decline of 7.41 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.54 kobo to end trading at N0.50 kobo per share.  
  • May & Baker’s share depreciated to N5.10 kobo from N5.45 kobo, after losing N0.35 kobo during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Access Corporation reported 111.66 million shares, valued at N1.74 billion, were traded on its floor.
  • GTCO recorded 78.98 million shares valued at N2.69 billion. 
  • UBA saw investors trade 72.29 million shares valued at N878.21 million. 
  • Sterling Financial Holdings recorded 65.61 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N195.57 million. 
  • Zenith Bank reported 52.43 million shares, valued at N1.76 billion, exchanged investors’ hands.
