1. Oil Marketers Berate NNPCL For Selling Dangote Petrol Above Price Of Imported Ones
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has kicked against the move by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to sell refined petrol from Dangote Refinery at a cost higher than imported ones.

NNPCL on Monday released new pump prices that it will sell petrol lifted from Dangote Refinery. According to the national oil company it will be sold N950.22 per litre in Lagos.
Before lifting the product on Sunday, NNPCL retail outlets sold between N855 and N897 per litre depending on location.
2. Nigeria’s Inflation Drops To 32.15% In August
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBC) has said that Inflation rate has reduced from 33.40% in July 2024 to 32.15% in August 2024.

3. Edo Election: Ighodalo Files N20 Billion Suit Against Oshiomhole
Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the September 21 gubernatorial election in Edo State, Dr Asue Ighodalo, has filed a N20 billion defamatory suit against former governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
This comes as a response to an alleged defamatory statement made by Oshiomhole during a political rally in Benin City on 14 September 2024 where he reportedly said that Ighodalo was the brain behind a ponzi scheme that defrauded Nigerians called ‘Planwell’.
4. Tinubu Visits Victims of Maiduguri Flood, Assures FG’s Support
President Bola Tinubu, Monday, visited Borno State to commiserate with victims of Maiduguri Flood.
The president visited the state Governor Professor Babagana Zulum, the Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi and victims of the Maiduguri flood. He assured maximum support to Borno and other affected states to help cushion the immediate suffering.
While speaking during the visit, Tinubu said: “We are here to sympathise with you over the unfortunate flood disaster, and I want to assure Borno people and other states affected by natural disasters that the federal government will give the desired maximum support.
5. NMDPRA Seals Filling Stations Over Stolen Fuel
Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NMDPRA) has sealed filling stations for allegedly receiving stolen fuel and has fined three marketers for stolen fuel also.
This followed operations carried out by personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service in August 2024 which led to the interception of seven petrol trucks, sealing of 12 retail outlets, and the seizure of 466,000 litres of petrol and 23 vehicles.
6. Bandits Attack Churches, Kill 3, Abduct 31 Persons
At least three worshippers have been killed in a terrorist attack by bandits in Bakinpah-Maro, a community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. No fewer than 31 persons which included a pastor were kidnapped in an attack which happened on Sunday during church service, targeting ECWA and Catholic churches in the community.
7. Gunmen Attack Another Anambra Police Facility, Kill 2
Gunmen invaded Umunze Divisional Police Headquarters located in Anambra State and killed two police operatives.
This was disclosed by the police spokesperson in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga.
8. Plans to Decriminalise Suicide, a Work in Progress – AGF
Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has reaffirmed his commitment to reviewing criminalization of suicide. He explained that it is a work in progress.
He made this known through his spokesperson, Kamarudeen Ogundele.
9. NiMET Predicts 3-day Thunderstorms from Tuesday
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has predicted a 3-day thunderstorm and rainfall from Tuesday to Thursday across the country.
According to forecast released by NiMET on Monday in Abuja, parts of Bauchi, Kebbi, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, Adamawa and Kaduna states will experience thunderstorm during the morning hours on Tuesday (today).
10. Lagos Reopens Maryland/Ojota Bridge
The Lagos State Government has reopened the Maryland/Ojota bridge for vehicular movement.
During the reopening on Monday, 16 September, the Deputy Governor of the state, Obafemi Hamzat lamented over the incessant theft of manhole cover and other bridge apparatuses. He said that the government has resorted to using fibre instead of steel to fabricate man holes in order to curb the stealings. He also added that anyone caught stealing will henceforth be prosecuted.

12. First Lady Unveils Fabric to be Worn on Independence Day
Nigeria’s first lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has unveiled #OneNigeria/Unity Fabric which she declared would be worn to commemorate Independence Day on 1st October 2024.
Speaking during the unveiling of the apparel at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Mrs Tinubu said that the cloth would be mass-produced by two local manufacturers- Sunflag Nigeria Limited in Lagos and BBY Multitrade Limited in Kano. She stressed that the goal is to symbolize unity through the fabric while still providing jobs for Nigerians, stimulating local industries and boosting the economy.
12. Continued Detention of Binance Executive may Negatively Impact Relationship – US Lawmaker
United States lawmaker in the House of Representatives, James Hill, has said that the continued detention of Binance Executive, Tigran Gambaryan, could severe the bilateral ties between Nigeria and the US.
In a statement on his X handle, Hill said he was surprised that Gambaryan was still in detention for something he wasn’t directly involved in and urged President Biden to push harder for his release.

15. Kano Police Arrests 26 Suspects, Recovers 126 Phones
Kano State Police Command has arrested 26 suspected armed robbers and mobile phone snatchers and recovered 126 stolen mobile phones.
This was revealed in a statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullah Haruna Kiyawa, who said that among the items recovered were illicit hard drug substances, weapons and laptops.

About 2000 residents were beneficiaries of the free medical outreach organised by the Nigerian Navy in Bayelsa State.
The outreach which was organised in Beletieama community in Brass LGA in Bayelsa State by the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO, covered routine checkups, drug administration and health education and the distribution of insecticide treated nets, eye tests and free eye glasses.

The Commission made this known in a counter-affidavit filed in response to the Labour Party’s suit challenging ita exclusion from INEC’s refresher training on upload of party agents ahead of the Edo and Ondo States governorship elections.
