There is palpable confusion in Adamawa State polity as the events that trailed the Saturday’s supplementary election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nullified the declaration made by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) that the APC’s candidate Aishatu Dahiru Binani was won the election.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that its governorship candidate in the Adamawa State election, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, won the election and should be declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commissioner.

Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has won the Sokoto South senatorial district election.
According to the Returning Officer of the election, Prof Abubakar Abdullahi Bagudo, who announced the result, Tambuwal, a two-term governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 100,860 votes to defeat his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent senator, Abdullahi Danbaba Dambuwa, who scored 95,884 votes. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nasiru Idris, has been declared winner of the 2023 governorship election in Kebbi State.

Senator Dino Melaye has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the November 11 Kogi governorship elections.
This was announced by Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi, the chairman of the PDP primary election committee shortly after the primary election held in Lokoja on Sunday.
Makarfi said that Melaye who represented Kogi West at the National Assembly, scored 313 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ilona Idoko-Kingsley who scored 124 votes. Usman Mohammed Kabiru polled 121 votes to take third position, while Abayomi Awoniyi, a former deputy governor, scored 77 votes. Read more
The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has released its unaudited results for the first quarter ended March 31st, 2023, recording remarkable growth across all its major income lines.
The Bank’s result which was released to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Thursday, April 13, 2023 showed that gross earnings rose by 47.5 percent from ₦183.9 billion to ₦271.2 billion; while Interest Income which stood at ₦125.9 billion as at March 2022, grew by 53.4% to ₦191.9 billion in the quarter under consideration. The International Monetary Fund has advised Sub-Saharan African countries to seek currency adjustments (devaluation) due to the realities of rising global interest rates and limited access to funding.
The fund said that “some adjustment of currencies seems unavoidable in many cases” even if their reaction was to resist it.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has raised the alarm over presence of adulterated Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel.
The Chairman of IPMAN, Enugu depot, Mr Chinedu Anyaso in charge of Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu states, said this in Awka on Sunday.
Anyaso said the leadership of IPMAN had received reports of damaged vehicles and industrial machines from members of the public as a result of suspected adulterated AGO.
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare his asset as he concludes his term in office by the end of May 2023.
The civil rights advocacy group also asked the president to encourage his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and other top government officials to follow suit. Read more
