Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu’s administration policies would spur rapid development in different sectors of the country’s economy in the next few years.

According to Keyamo, the economic reforms would lead to a rise in liquidity in the economy.

The minister stated this while paying tribute to President Tinubu on the occasion of his 73rd birthday on Saturday, 29 March, 2025.

In a statement, the minister applauded Tinubu for his bold economic reforms, which he said were ignored by past leaders for political expediency.

Upon assumption of office in May 2023, Tinubu embarked on economic reforms such as the removal of subsidies on fuel, which was a drain pipe of government resources; exchange rate reforms, and other critical policies to put the country on the path to sustainable growth.

Keyamo claimed that the country’s macro-economic indicators are looking up, and would eventually “impact positively on jobs and ultimately ensure the revival and stability of the middle class.”

The minister described Tinubu as “an enigmatic and bold reformer” who has been a “master at fostering progressive coalitions for the ultimate advancement of democracy.”

Keyamo highlighted Tinubu’s past roles in the struggle for entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria, including his role in the formation and sustenance of NADECO that pushed for the overthrow of military rule and many legal and political battles he fought as governor of Lagos State against the then Federal Government in a bid to promote democratic ideals.

Keyamo further noted that in 2015, Tinubu engineered the formation of the biggest coalition of political parties in history which led to the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the removal of the ruling party (PDP) from power.

He also highlighted the struggles that Tinubu encountered to win the Presidential ticket of the APC in 2022 and “battled even harder to win the presidential polls in 2023 before becoming the President of this great country.”

“In all of these, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has laid a marker for us now and generations to come: do not be a passive participant in a struggle; do not be content with merely helping to remove a prevailing order without a strong commitment to be personally involved in ushering in real change. Otherwise, your struggle would be in vain, lost to the foibles of some charlatans in power,” he added.

He argued that looking at Tinubu’s trajectory, it is clear that he has over the years been motivated by a vision to set Nigeria on a path of sustainable economic growth and development.
