Tinubu Extends Condolences To Canadian Embassy After Fire Outbreak

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to the Canadian government, the diplomatic community, and all individuals affected by the fire incident at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja, which occurred on Monday.

This came after the report by Prime Business Africa of a fire incident that occurred at the High Commission of Canada to Nigeria, located in the Central Business District of Abuja, claimed two lives, leaving two others injured and hospitalized with severe burns.

Reports claimed that the fire, which started from a diesel explosion in the generator house on Monday morning during repair work on the generator.

Tinubu’s message of support and condolences was conveyed through Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President for Media & Publicity, who stated on November 6, 2023.

During his statement, he affirmed the Nigerian government’s commitment to providing comprehensive support to the Canadian authorities, as well as diplomatic and local staff of the High Commission who were particularly impacted by the unfortunate incident.

The president stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with our Canadian friends during this difficult time. The Nigerian government stands ready to assist in any way possible to ensure the well-being and recovery of those affected by this tragedy.”

Tinubu also offered his prayers for the repose of the departed souls and wished a swift and full recovery for all those who sustained injuries in the fire.
