Super Eagles and SS Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on Sunday played down the furore that his club’s Tiktok post has caused by restating his affection for the people of Naples.

The club’s social media team posted on their Tiktok handle videos that were demeaning to the person of Osimhen in the aftermath of his penalty miss against Bologna in the Serie A.

“Coming to the city of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The people of Naples have shown me so much love and kindness and I will not let anyone to come between us,” Osimhen posited.

“The passion of the people of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is, unwavering as I wear it with pride.

“The accusation against the people of Naples, are untrue. I have a lot of friends that are Napoliteans, and have become part of my family and everyday lives.

“I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for lending their voices to support and reach out to me.

“Thanks so much. I’m continuing to spread unity, respect and understanding,” the Nigerian stated.

The striker has since scored two goals in two games including a strike on Sunday evening in the 4-0 win over Leece.

Osimhen scored 26 league last season as the club won the Scudetto title for the first time in 33 years when Diego Maradona inspired them to win the league.
