Super Eagles Lose To Tunisia, Out of 2021 AFCON

January 23, 2022
Ten-man Nigeria’s run at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations came to a shuddering end on Sunday evening as the Super Eagles were beaten 1-0 by Tunisia in the Round of 16 clash at the Roumde Adjia stadium in Garoua.
Youssef Msakni was allowed the time and space by a floundering Eagles defence to let fly a shot that goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was not able to keep out two minutes after the restart.
Alex Iwobi was red carded for a dangerous tackle. The Everton forward was initially handed a yellow but it was later upgraded to red after the VAR checking.
The match was the seventh meeting for both sides at the Africa Cup of Nations but 21 overall and one that the Nigerians were all tipped to win following their perfect Group D campaign.
Tunisia will now meet Burkina Faso on Saturday who earlier on the day defeated 7-6 on penalties.
Prime Business Africa will present the post match reactions from the venue as they come in.
