The Turkish Football Federation on Monday announced that Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel and two of his Fernabahce FC teammates are expected to appear at a disciplinary hearing following a bust-up with fans of Trabzonspor on March 17, reports Prime Business Africa.

Fernabahce were away in a Turkish Lig 1 game which they won 3-2.

Trouble began as Osayi-Samuel and his teammates were gathered in the centre circle celebrating their victory after former Chelsea striker Mitchy Bashuayi scored the winning goal.

Fernabahce goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic was punched in the face by fans of Trabzonspor who made their way to where the away side were gathered.

Osayi-Samuel, who was in the Nigerian team that prosecuted two international friendlies against Ghana and Mali in March, punched one of the fans who ran onto the pitch with his face masked.

Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde was also accused of kicking the same player.

A third player, whose identity had not been confirmed, is also expected to appear before the displinary body.

Prime Business Africa gathered that an assistant coach of Trabzonspor FC will also be at the independent panel to clarify his involvement in the fracas that FIFA president Gianni Infantino had condemned and labelled “absolutely unacceptable.”

This incident represents further disciplinary issues that have bedevilled Turkish football with 13 supporters of Trabzonspor arrested.

Earlier in the season, the president of Amkaragucu FC physically assaulted a referee at the end of a league game.

In 2016, a game involving Trabzonspor was abandoned in the closing stages as the centre referee was attacked by a supporter.

  1. I do like the way you have framed this situation and it really does give us some fodder for consideration. However, coming from what precisely I have personally seen, I only wish as the comments stack on that men and women keep on point and not get started on a tirade of some other news du jour. Still, thank you for this outstanding piece and while I can not really go along with this in totality, I value the point of view.
